Maya and Pierre met at their university’s salsa club. I had high expectations for their first dance, and they did not disappoint; definitely kept me on my toes!!! Their energy is infectious, and within minutes the dance floor was packed with everyone having a great time. But let’s rewind a bit to the beginning of the day. Maya wanted a wedding at home, and with such a beautiful house by the lake, I could understand why! So they utilized their spacious backyard to setup tents for their ceremony and reception. After getting ready, Pierre arrived on a white horse accompanied by festive drum beats during the Baraat and was greeted by Maya’s family. The Hindu ceremony consisted of various symbolic ritual one of which where Maya and Pierre sprinkled rice (symbols for wealth and prosperity) into the sacred flame to invoke blessings for a long and prosperous life together.
Maya and Pierre, it was such an honor to have documented your wedding, and best of luck with the move to LA! Mad props (who says that? I do!) to my wonderful second shooter, Hendrick Moy for assisting me that day, and to Jonathan for introducing me to this wonderful couple!
