I couldn’t think of a more awesome way to kick off this year’s wedding season. Chen and Kris’s wedding at The Morning Side Castle was a special day full of traditions, emotions, and a celebration of two families becoming one with the blooming magnolias and cherry blossoms as the backdrop. The day started at Gild Hotel where this fun couple got ready for their wedding. Chen was as cool as a cucumber and didn’t show an ounce of nervousness. After they saw each other for the first time at their venue Morningside Castle (a hidden gem nestled in Upper West Side of NYC), they exchanged cards with thoughtful messages they had prepared for one another. I have seen the wedding tradition of couples bowing to their families and to each other in many Chinese movies, but this is the first time I’ve witnessed it at a wedding. It’s so refreshing to see Chen and Kris incorporating this thousand year old tradition into their ceremony to pay respect to their parents and grandfather. The night ended with families and friends from near and far coming together and dancing the night away in the Hogwarts-like reception hall (in the words of Kris). Thank you so much Chen and Kris for giving me the honor of capturing your incredible wedding! And a special thanks to Meridith for photographing this wedding alongside me =].
