When I met with Zaib and Haseeb, it felt like old friends reconnecting instead of our first meeting. This is how I knew their wedding will be a blast. Due to their faith, they cannot touch intimately before they’re wedded. So when Haseeb saw Zaib for the first time dressed in her beautiful maroon wedding gown, instead of embracing her, he humorously gave her a big thumbs up. When they’re finally wedded, these two were so joyous and giddy during their portrait session. We couldn’t help but smile along with this lovely couple. Thanks to them, I got to experience my first Pakistani Muslim wedding. I learned about the different traditions such as the baraat where the groom and his family make their entrance, the qiraat where recitations of the Quran is performed, nikkah, the wedding ceremony, and finally ruksatee where the bride and groom bid their family and friends farewell.
